Paediatric First Aid at your premises

As with child-minders, all newly qualified nursery employees are legally required to possess a Paediatric First Aid (PFA) certificate.

The Paediatric First Aid course is one of our most popular offerings, and for good reason—whether working with kids on the job or at home, knowing how to handle emergencies can be a huge comfort while looking after our most valuable possessions!

All newly qualified nursery workers are required by law to possess a Paediatric First Aid certificate. The Level 3 Paediatric First Aid (PFA) course satisfies the requirements set forth by Ofsted and is governed by Ofqual. It is intended for people who look after kids from birth to puberty.

It should be noted that the Early Years Framework mandates the completion of the entire Paediatric First Aid course for anyone who will be left in sole charge of a child or children.

Combined Course

By combining this course with a First Aid at Work course, we can help schools save money and time by meeting their HSE and Ofsted requirements in the same amount of time (3 days of training instead of 5 for both courses). If you would like to enrol in one of our open courses, the additional fee is £25.00 per person. If you choose to use this option, please notify us in advance.

There are two ways to be assessed: in the end, there is a simple multiple-choice exam and practical tasks. To be eligible, candidates must pass both requirements.

Note that, when necessary, candidates must be able to do exercises at floor level. All regulated courses require that the candidate be able to communicate with emergency services in an effective manner. While this isn’t evaluated officially, your instructor must be certain that this is the case. Because of this, all of the question papers are in English, and in the event that a candidate has literacy or learning issues, a reader will be made available.

The PFA is typically taught over two 6-hour days and needs 12 hours of interaction time (including breaks). It is also possible to divide it into four half-day sessions, but there will be a fee. We are pleased to conduct this course on the weekends because we completely understand how challenging it may be to free up enough staff members to attend during the week.

After qualifying, candidates can use their certificate for three years, after which they must requalify by attending a new, two-day course.

Ofsted advises all paediatric first aiders to complete a three-hour refresher course once a year to maintain their certification.

We only allow 12 people per trainer at a time. More trainers can be added to suit larger groups.
